Regional Independent School of the Year: North – Entry Form


This award is for an independent school located in the Northern part of the UK* The school can be of any size and cater for any academic level.

Our judges would like you to tell them the story of your school during 2024-25; share your pride in where you work in the North of the UK and explain why the students in your care enjoy an unparalleled student experience which is enhanced by the school’s location. Give us some examples of what you are describing and share any data which supports your entry (but please avoid lists!). Most of all, give us a sense of school life as it would appear to our judges if they were lucky enough to walk through your doors.

These are the key questions to answer in your entry: please make sure your entry focuses on how your school capitalises on and benefits from its location in your part of the north of the UK.

  • Why do you think your school is special; what is it that you do to capitalise on your location in the North of the country which makes your school stand out from other schools in the area ? Why should your school be considered the best in your region and worthy of this award? (circa 200 words)
  • Why do you think your location in your area in the North of the UK – and the activities/school life this has enabled you to offer – meets the particular needs of your students in 2024-25? How has this provided them with an enhanced student experience? (circa 150 words)
  • Tell us about the impact your school and its regional identity has on both your students and the wider local community (circa 150 words)
